Yes, that’s really what my Wonderful Ones are asking! “Where are the math games from Fun4theBrain?” Well, here is a cute little pet shop game… just waiting to be played. Thanks, Natasha!

Fall Fun Day was a success! We learned the Virginia Reel, heard a bluegrass band, learned from a bee keeper, heard Appalachian story telling and more. We have pictures and video coming soon. Stay tuned!

Squeaky fingers, tennis balls and giant pencils!

The Wonderful Ones are working hard to learn how to use the smartboard. We are trying to develop our drag and drop finger-work!

We have found that the cure to squeaky fingers is using the fingernail to drag items. Also useful items: a tennis ball and a giant souvenir pencil (the eraser end)!

tennis ball 1giant_pencilHere is a fall puzzle that is much like the ones we will be working on in our smartboard center time. This will give the students the much needed practice of dragging and dropping on the smartboard, plus everyone knows that puzzles are good for the brain!

Thanks to Maggie for the idea of dropping the puzzle into the blog post!

Verbs – Our actions

September 10th, 2009  Tagged , , ,

We have been talking about verbs! Remember, a verb is your action – it’s what you do!

We demonstrated verbs, wrote verbs, and even put our featured book character, Dan into action with verbs.

Sadie, Sam, Emma H.-C., and Grayson have their Dan action pictures on their own wiki page today… check out their links or the link to the student pages!

Here is a game that shows you some action words in action! It is fun to look at – try it out!

Snowballs in May?

May 10th, 2009  Tagged

Well, it’s not really snowing, but Austin suggested that we put in a link to the Snowball Fight game from our friends at Fun4theBrain.com.

I set this link up for subtraction practice. If you want a little addition practice too, check out Fairy Fun.

Popcorn Words

We just found this on Fun4theBrain this afternoon as we were waiting for the buses. Try it out! It is a fun way to study your word wall words! We lined up at the Smart board and had a great time seeing how fast we could find our words.

Math Centers – a fun way to learn!

April 30th, 2009  Tagged , ,

We used our math games to practice addition, subtraction, telling time, counting money, and problem solving! Look at our slide show to see how we did all of this in one day.

Austin says it was fun to make those block puzzles and they were really cool! My favorite one was the sun.

Jordan says it was awesome sitting under Mrs. Wojtera’s desk. We played two games.

Mackenzie says it was fun to match up all the digital and regular clocks together. We pretended that all the power went down and all the clocks we matched up made the power go back up.

Auna says we took turns while we were reading the plus signs. We liked it and it was fun.

Abby says Zan and I worked on pentominoes and we made little animals.

Charli says Haley and I had a book and it had a binder. We matched up some blocks to the picture.

Paper clip measuring

We are starting our study about non-standard measurement. You can play a game about measuring with paper clips with this link. We measured things with lengths of yarn today and then described our findings by using the words longer or shorter.
